Inhabitat NY April 15th: Bike Lane Fight!, Electric Cruise Ships & Starck's Shower Toilet!

Dear NYC Inhabitants-

Spring is in the air, and things are heating up in NYC!  We've been super busy trying to cover everything that has been going on in NYC this week. From the unveiling of Philippe Starck's shower-toilet to the inauguration of The Lee, a green supportive housing tower designed by Kiss+Cathcart, the Inhabitat team has been all over the city covering events. We took a private tour of ReVision Lounge, a cocktail bar and gallery where everything is made from recycled materials, and we visited the Film Biz Prop Shop, a second hand store that sells used film props and set designs. We even traveled up to Albany to cover an anti-fracking rally. Read on for our exclusive stories!

LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
this week: Upscale Vegan Dining

BLOSSOM -- High-End Vegetarian Cuisine in Chelsea

Blossom is Inhabitat's favorite restaurant in all of New York City. This upscale vegan restaurant is the perfect place to impress everyone you know -- veg or not. Blossom uses only fresh, organic ingredients, and the menu is guaranteed to please foodies, meat-eaters and the most staunch vegetarians alike. A few of our favorite Blossom dishes include the port wine seitan, the porcini flutes, and the black eyed pea cake.

CANDLE 79 - Farm to Table Fare in the Upper East Side

Another one of our favorite fancy veg restaurants is Candle 79, off Park Avenue in the Upper East Side. The delicious eco-friendly cuisine has earned Candle 79 a reputation as one of the best vegan restaurants in the city. We love the seitan piccata, the amazingly creative smoothies (green goddess anyone?) and the selection of organic wines, but our favorite menu item at Candle 79 is the ice cream. It's so creamy, you'll never even know it's vegan!

Thanks for reading everyone - catch you next week!
